Münster 400m Accessibility Monitor

Network-based 400m walkability service areas for commercial, education, and health facilities, computed in QGIS against Münster's footpath network, then merged and measured against the city's 13 postal districts. Coverage concentrates sharply in the historic core (postal code 48143) and thins toward the periphery in all three categories.

Data & methodology ▾

Service area: QGIS Network Analysis "Service area (from layer)", 400m walking distance along the OSM footpath network, run separately from every commercial POI, school, and health facility (pharmacies/clinics).

Coverage % is each district's own footprint covered by the buffered union of all per-point service areas for that category — comparable across districts regardless of size.

Note: the source workshop's "Health access" shapefile was found to be a mislabeled duplicate of the Education layer (identical geometry, school names). Health figures shown here are recomputed from the correct pharmacy/clinic point layer (Service_area/Health.shp, 201 facilities).

Postal district boundaries and GTFS stop/route data: Stadtwerke Münster. Commercial/education/health points: OpenStreetMap.
